he way a webpage ranks in the list a search engine produces is something that is always under much debate within the online communities. Whilst it may or  may  not
be the primary way of making a website productive, it is undoubtedly an important factor in the majority.

Different search engines work in different ways but in general the way pages are ranked (effecting how high it gets in a list) could be said to fall into the three distinct categories, as outlined below.

Metadata.

This has an importance as it is the information that the search engine spiders read as a summary of the key areas of the actual content. Getting this right for each individual page of your website is important and often overlooked or underestimated.

If the website is based in HTML this obviously gives you many pages to play with. Mixing the word combinations and changing words in the tags covering titles, descriptions and keywords for each individual page can be very effective in getting hits.
